The Curriculum
The PreK-Grade 5 classes of Sunday School @Carter follow the Workshop Rotation Model. Each week, following our gathered worship, classes rotate between one of the four monthly workshops, engaging our monthly Bible story in new and creative ways. Children will find themselves up to their elbows in modeling clay and paint one week, then dressed in costumes portraying Noah the next, only to strap on a pair of goggles and create an exploding volcano the third week! All the while, they are engaged in understanding the real-life events portrayed in Scripture, the mystery and power of God, and the love of Jesus Christ as they learn to navigate their own lives as people of faith.
Youth gather in a somewhat more traditional sense. Their Sunday begins with a check-in of the week, followed by group prayer. Lessons include Scripture and major Bible themes, but center on their lived experiences, the changes of growing up, and the struggles and joys that they face each day. Our youth enjoy spending time together sharing stories and learning as much from one another as from their lesson plans.
In the Nursery, thematic books, toys, and music echo the lessons being taught in the elementary classrooms. Infants and toddlers hear simple Bible stories, explore the world around them, and come to feel the love of Christ.
